Title: Commonalities of statistical analysis of environmental impacts of radioactivity and health impacts of pandemics
Abstract:
Radioactivity is considered an environmental and health hazard; especially related to human produced ionizing radiation from nuclear power plants and TENORM as waste products from such activities as Oil and Gas industry in hydraulic fracturing processes. Due to the randomized nature of interactions of radiation with biological cells; the assessments of such impacts has to be based on statistical analysis. These mathematical methodologies and modeling are also widely used to make predictive health assessments of pandemics, including the recent COVID-19 global outbreak. This article will highlight the common statistical techniques applied to environmental and health assessments of radioactivity and pandemics.
